Where will you walk from?

Last year we walked from the beach.  This year I will do the same.

Welcome to my family's personal fundraising page! Here is #WhyIWFO.

I was never the "fat" kid growing up.  I was the athlete, the over achiever, the one who dared to try everything!  So what happened?  I had a sports injury that led to me one day falling down a flight of stairs, landing in a wheelchair, and gaining weight.  Gaining 1lb a month for the next 10 years added 120lbs to my body.  Before I knew it I was 350+ lbs.  I was fat shamed and looked upon differently.  I was never in pictures.  Doctors were always assuming I didn't eat healthy.  I was embarrassed to ask for a seat belt extension on flights.  I tried every diet and even had every cookbook.

What turned it around?  My father said to me, "Do you know what scares me the most?  I am afraid you will die before me."  I knew I had to get this under control and do something.  I happened to be at a patient conference where others were sharing their journeys.  I was so inspired by their stories, I elected to have surgery 7/2/2016.  It was the BEST decision ever!  I am grateful there were others to help along the way especially my family and friends.

We love being on #TEAMCELEBRATE ... even the kids!

Please help me reach my fundraising goal for this very important cause.

The ASMBS Foundation's Walk from Obesity is the only national walkathon event that brings together those who are directly affected by the disease of obesity. My participation in this event is key to raising funds and drawing attention to the disease of obesity and the need for more research, education, and awareness efforts.

By supporting my efforts for the ASMBS Foundation, you too can make a difference in the fight against obesity!  Through research and education, we are able to better understand this disease and how to combat it.

Make a donation today!  All donations are tax-deductible as the ASMBS Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit organization.

Thank you for your support!
